Text Blaze alternative without an account
Text Blaze is powerful, but it asks you to sign in and keeps your snippets in its cloud. If your company policy, privacy preference or simple taste says “keep it local”, PhraseBolt gives you the same day-to-day features with nothing to sign up for.
The features you actually use, kept
| Text Blaze | PhraseBolt |
|---|---|
{formtext: name=First name} | {text:First name} or simply {First name} |
{formmenu: A; B; name=Plan} | {choice:Plan=A|B} |
{formparagraph: name=Notes} | {para:Notes} |
{formtoggle: name=PS}…{endformtoggle} | {optional:PS}…{/optional} |
{time: MMM D; shift=+3D} | {date:MMM D +3d} (also +2bd business days) |
{cursor}, {clipboard} | Same |
{import: /sig} | {snippet:/sig} |
The importer converts all of these automatically. Formulas, {if} logic, {site} scraping and automation commands are not supported; they are kept as plain text so you can see what needs a manual tweak.
Why no account matters
- Nothing to approve: no OAuth screen, no new vendor account for IT to review.
- No sync surprises: your snippets are where you left them, even offline.
- Less data in someone else’s cloud: customer names you type into a form never leave the page you are on.
Need the same snippets on two computers? Turn on PhraseBolt sync: it uses Chrome’s own sync storage tied to your Chrome profile, not a PhraseBolt server.
Migrating from Text Blaze step by step
- In the Text Blaze dashboard, open a folder and use its menu to export the snippets (CSV or JSON). Repeat for each folder you want.
- Open PhraseBolt → Import & export → choose Text Blaze → pick the file.
- Review the table: shortcuts, names, folders and converted text.
- Click Import. Folder names are kept so the palette search stays organised.
Sharing with a team, without a team plan
Pick a folder → Create link. The snippets are compressed into the link itself; teammates open it and click Add to PhraseBolt. No admin console and no per-seat pricing — each person simply has their own copy.
